Salix viminalis (English Rod)
z. 3 – 10 ht. 9′/ 30′ (coppiced / tree-form)
A vigorous greenish – brown tall shrub sought out by basket weavers for its good weaving qualities. Highly ornamental with shiny stems, the ‘viminalis’ willows can be planted in wetter areas than other willows. They also produce abundant nectar and pollen when in bloom, attracting bees and butterflies.
Coppice (cut nearly to the ground) yearly to produce the long, straight stems used for basketry. Coppice only every second or third year to produce larger and stronger wood for wattle fencing.
All Willows are 1-gal. size
