Salix triandra (Black Maul)
z. 3 – 10 ht. 8′ (coppiced) – 30′
The classic English basketry willow used throughout the world for weaving. (Black Maul) is known for the flexibility of the ‘rods’ or stems that are produced each year. Highly ornamental with rich black-coloured stems and rich green-coloured leaves. Choice and most highly recommended! Does very well on the west coast.
Coppice (cut nearly to the ground) yearly to produce the long, straight stems used for basketry. Coppice only every second or third year to produce larger and stronger wood for wattle fencing.
All Willows are 1-gal. size
