Rubus parviflorus
z. 2 – 8 ht. 3′ – 6′
Delicious berry native to the West Coast with large white blossoms. Thimbleberry will slowly form a thicket over time, and is easy to harvest as the plant grows without spines. Young shoots are also edible. Easy to grow. The berries have the most amazing rich, sweet flavour; we enjoy these berries more than any other native berry! This cultivar has been taken from an especially delicious patch found on Denman Island. Used and treasured by the First Nations for centuries. The dark-reddish berry is similar in look to a raspberry but has a larger and thinner cap, is more fine-grained, less seedy and (in our humble opinion) has tons more flavour.
