Tamarisk chinensis aka Salt Cedar

Salt-tolerant shrub or small tree. Hardy survivor, will grow anywhere – including in poor, rocky soil. Pink flowers in summer. Handles windy areas well and salt spray – making it a great coastal plant. Use as a windbreak to slow the prevailing winds. Graceful, airy, arching branches. The dried and oiled wood is used to great effect in furniture details. The coppiced (cut) stems make a wonderful and sturdy trellis or wattle fence that weathers even better than willow.
