Cyprus is a hardy tree that produces light grey-brown figs with honey-coloured interior. Delicious and fine-grained. Original tree was located in Victoria, BC; owned by a gentleman who was adamant that the variety of the tree was called ‘Cyprus’ – despite there being not much documentation of this variety in circulation. So it is possible that this tree is misnamed. What is known is that it is a dependably hardy and productive tree that produces luscious, rich-flavoured figs. This ones’ a keeper! We obtained this variety from our friend and fellow fruit enthusiast, Jane Lighthall.
If growing this tree in the ground on the West Coast, we recommend that you plant this tree in a sunny and protected spot; then mulch fairly heavily around its’ base. Finally, protect it with a burlap wrap in mid-winter for the first few years.
All Fig Trees are large 1-gallon size plants.
