Tried and true, with a long proven history, Brown Turkey performs well on the west coast. Large purple-brown figs with amber-coloured interior. Sweet and rich-flavoured, fine-grained figs. Tree is productive and handles cold temperatures better than most fig varieties. Brown Turkey and Desert King are the two most common types of fig trees grown on the coast. This variety makes a good container tree. Good-sized ‘Breba’ (first) crop. In years with extra warm summers you might get a second crop in the fall.
If growing this tree in the ground on the West Coast, we recommend that you plant this tree in a sunny and protected spot; then mulch fairly heavily around its’ base. Finally protect it with a burlap wrap in mid-winter for the first few years.
All Fig Trees are large 1-gallon size plants.
